| I know the ladies on here aren't too keen on Bret's activities but spare a thought for him now. Get well soon Bret. http://www.rockradio.co.uk/manchester/rock-news/poison-bret-in-new-hospital-dash/yyebzsq9/Poison frontman Bret Michaels is recovering from a brain haemorrhage – just days after he was rushed to hospital for an emergency appendectomy.
He remains on the critical list as doctors at an unnamed hospitale are still searching for the source of bleeding at the base of his brain. It's reported he's suffering dizziness, blurred vision and slurred speech – but his dad says: "he still sounds like my son."
Late on Thursday night Michaels he was rushed to Intensive Care after complaining of a severe headache. Doctors found he'd suffered a sub-arachnoid haemorrhage. It happened days after specialists persuaded him to seek medical attention for stomach pains, leading to the discovery that his appendix was close to bursting. He later revealed that had he gone on stage for a solo show as intended, he'd probably be dead.
Both medical alerts are believed to have been complications caused by his diabetes.
A spokesman updated fans on Sunday afternoon: "It will be touch and go for the next few days. He's under 24-hour care and we're hopeful that further tests will locate the source of the bleeding
"As we all know, Bret is a fighter. We're hopeful that once all is completed, the slurred speech, blurred vision and diziness will be eliminated, and all functions will return to normal.
"Everyone at Michaels Entertainment would like to thank fans and friends for their continued thoughts and prayers through this difficult time."
The singer's dad, Wally Sychak, told RadarOnline.com on Saturday: "I talked to him on the phone this morning. He sounded upbeat and positive, but they had him sedated. He's doing good – he sounded like my son." Michaels' two daughters, girlfriend and tour manager are at the hospital with him.
The singer and reality TV star, 47, last week told how doctors were impressed at the pace of his recovery from appendicitis, which was being made more difficult by his diabetes. He's waiting to hear if his eldest daughter Raine is also suffering from the blood-sugar disorder.
Experts say that without urgent expert medical attention, people who suffer sub-arachnoid haemorrhages are 20-30% likely to suffer a second episode within weeks, which is almost always fatal. But Michaels is believed to be receiving the best attention available.
Billionaire Donald Trump, star of reality TV show Celebrity Apprentice, on which Michaels is currently appearing, said at the weekend: "I am deeply saddened and my thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. He's a great competitor and champion, and I hope he will be fine | |
