Well, not really sure what to make of this, but apparently I am a full blown diabetic.

Everyone keeps saying 'sorry to hear that' when I tell them, but to me it didn't really mean much until the doc I saw today said she wouldn't like to be diagnosed with it. When a doc says that, you worry!

I think my ignorance of the problem is why I'm not that fussed. But it would appear to actually be quite a big problem.

The long term effects seem to be pretty serious and it would appear that I've had symptoms for quite awhile but no-one picked up on them. That annoyed me tbh. For years I've had slightly abnormal liver test results that have just been ignored. And today the doc goes thats prob why they were abnormal, early signs of diabeties. (If anyone likes pate then apparently my liver would make good stuff right now!!!!) I've had probs with my calf muscles, serious pain, and one of the symptoms of diabeties is bad circulation. Now I'm thinking was that the cause?

So, looks like I need to get a handle on this and see what I can do to lessen the effects. Never been the most disciplined person in the world, but I'd better start to be.

I still have things I want to do and I'd be pissed if didn't get to do them!

Anyway, just thought I'd share!!!... Rolling Eyes

My Grandma was a full blown diabetic..she lived till she was 83.

Only thing I will say and I mean this without any offence (so I apologise if I do offend) but maybe time to try and shift a few pounds?

Exercise is easy if you find something you enjoy. For me it's cycling and 25 minutes twice a week in the gym....you need to find something you enjoy, watch what you eat and you'll soon see the pounds melt away...

Good luck!

Ok. Thanks Chrissy. As we are such a small (yet loving!) community it's mroe obvious when one of us disappers.

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis Adam. Crying or Very sad My Mom was insuline dependent for over 20 years. She was borderline at first. The doctor warned her she needed to lose weight. When she didn't lose the weight they had to put her on insuline. The library has some wonderful diabetic cookbooks and there are tons of good sugar free desserts now. Exercise is fun. cheer Find something you like to do. I didn't realize the connection between the painful calf muscles from bad circulation..or liver tests Shocked Keep us posted...Wishing you good health!Bummer... 30553
