| There seems to be alot of love for some bands that had a fair bit of success but never quite made it into the major leagues. If you could pick ONE band that you think should have REALLY made into the major league but for whatever reason didn't quite, or who had made it and have dropped away, who would you choose? Me? GARBAGE. Should have had multi platinum album after multi platinum album. Loved the way they didn't conform to the rock norm and cliches. Every album is different in style yet distinctive and easily recognisable as GARBAGE. And in Shirley have as charismatic a front person as I've seen. And it is cool to have a hot woman to look at instead of sweaty men all the time!!! They'd better get back together...'cos a world without GARBAGE is a sadder place... Anyone else? | |

| VAIN........Their first album 'No Respect' is one of the best of the entire era. Problem is it came out too late '89. If this album had been released in '84-'85 it would have been mammoth & Vain would have been household. Instead they never had any momentum & fell to the waist side like just about every other band of this generation. Vain was a victim of bad timing.

| Lillian Axe. They had the goods back in the day! The good news is, they just signed a new deal and have a new album coming out. I'm jazzed!! | |

'Scope Early 90's. Oasis & Blur where exploding everywhere and Britrock didn't get as much of a chance as it should've done. Probably the biggest band to come out of the Brit Rock scene were the Wildhearts.

'Scope I love The Wildhearts. They were on the verge of cracking into the big time and they really fu*ked it up. Well, when I say 'they' their bassist Danny did. They had booked a major tour of what would be secondary halls in the UK, City Halls/Apollo Theatres and the like, up from the small clubs and they had to cancel the whole tour 'cos the bassist was/is a heroin addict. He OD'd and couldn't do the tour. They never recovered from it, really. They tour every year around December and do OK, but they aren't gonna make it into the big time now. They make a decent living, but they missed their slot. Ginger is one of the finest song writers out there. He has come up with some of my favourite songs. But he also writes some long winded overlong shit!!! Over does the time changes and riffs sometimes. Personally if you want to check them out I'd say start with 'Earth vs The Wildhearts', 'The Wildherats Must Be Destroyed' & 'Don't Be Happy...Just Worry'. Stunning albums each and every one of them. Proper in your face RnR played with a real snarl. Go to YouTube and look for 'Vanilla Radio'(one of top, top tunes by ANY band EVER!!), 'Sick Of Drugs', 'Caffine Bomb', 'I Wanna Go Where The People Go' or 'Suckerpunch' and you'll get a very good idea of what this bands about. Play them LOUD tho! Ginger is also a very funny geezer...his cracks with the crowd during a gig are hysterical!!! Also a big KISS & Cheap Trick fan! Actullay search for: 'The Wildhearts Caffeine Bomb Live Download 2008' and you'll get the humour the some proper RnR!

As much as Danny's drug addicition messed them about I'd say the CD 'Endless Nameless' did more damage to them. ALl my mates are massive 'hearts fans and when they heard EN they were like 'Oh it's so good', 'A brave change of direction' etc, etc. The played it me and I just said 'well it's a bit shit and just a noise really isn't it'. The amount of shit I got for that was unbelievable yet it was true. Endless Nameless alienated a lot of fans who then went on to Feeder, Manics etc...

Endless Nameless alienated a lot of fans who then went on to Feeder, Manics etc... Hmm, possibly but the tour screw up came before 'Endless, Nameless'. The damage had already been done, but 'EN' was a strange one and I suppose could claim to be the nail in the coffin? Even Ginger has been quoted as saying he doesn't know what the fu*k he was thinking at the time!!!!... Thing is I actually REALLY like 'EN'!!!... There is a lot of stuff going on and there is melody to the tunes...you've just got to get past the chainsaw vocals and pneumatic drill guitars! When i first heard 'Anthem' (first single off it) I thought 'Yeah!!!...class'...but didn't expect the entire album to have the same vocal sound!!! It does grate on you unless you're in the right mood...which for me is frequently!!!! But it didn't go down well with all the fans. I bought my copy of a mate who was a huge Wildhearts fan...he just couldn't listen to it. Hated it! They played 'Urge' & 'Nurse Maximum' on the last few tours and they went down a storm!

| Dream Theater.
They got a taste with "Pull Me Under" in the early '90's, which was very strange, since they definitely were not what the doctor ordered back then.
They have a loyal fan base (of which I'm glad to be a part), but I realize that pop culture will never be ready for progressive metal songs that average about 8 minutes in length!
But hey, it'd still be nice to see them hit it really big!

But hey, it'd still be nice to see them hit it really big! Gonna be honest here and say, from what I've heard of DT, it's a bit 'widdly widdly!'...if you get what I mean! Great musicians but not great songs. Just my opinion! And not nessecerily (sp) right! 'cos I ain't heard much! So, point me to something you think I should listen to that could change my mind...I'm always open to new stuff.
