How many of you are in/have been in a band and what did you play? Covers or originals or a mix of both?

| I am in a cover band and play rhythm. We are looking at writing some originals and maybe tossing them in once in while. | |

Cool. What type of stuff do you cover? Just wondering how it compares to the cover bands I see at my pub...

| Was. Many years ago. Originals and covers. Just put two of our songs on YouTube (it's easy to just point people to YT that want to hear your stuff than send out CD's!) so decided to post them here in 'Your Noise'... ...don't seem to be goin down that well tho!!!!!!... For covers we did various over the years but included: Queen - We Will Rock You..the Live Killers version Bauhaus - Crowds Undertones - Teenage Kicks Sabbs - Paranoid Prince - The Cross (don't think we ever did this live tho?) Archers Of Loaf - Toast Green Day - Basket Case Sex Pistols - Silly Thing The Beatles - Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds... really punked up tho!!! Hanoi rocks - Taxi Driver The Pixies - Where Is My Mind The Ramones - Rockaway Beach there would have been more but that's all I can recall right now!!! Like I said...it was a long time ago!!!

| I've been in several over the years. All original music, with the exception of 2 remakes I can remember: Change by John Wait, and Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd. | |

| Yup.... At this time, I play guitar in (2) cover bands Rat Poizon in Missouri and Lethal Judgement in Illinois.
Having a GREAT time!!!!
I was in a original metal band from St. Louis called Conquest back in the early 1990's. They are still together with the replacement guitarist that I found for them 14 years ago.
Best,
A~ | |

| Here!
About 8-9 years ago I was in a band. We did write some cool originals, but live we only got to play covers. It was a great time, but then my career called, and we broke up. Oh, well. . .the other guys (mostly) are still doing musical things aside from their day jobs. One of them has a new band that definitely has some promise. Check them out, they're called "Calling Tokyo."
Since before and after, the only other band settings I've been in were very impromptu, "one practice" type gigs. For the last 7-8 years, I've just been playing for the sake of playing. I love music and the guitar, and it's too much fun not to do.

| Cheers chaps! When your'e in a covers band it can tricky at times, you wanna give the punters what they want, but not play the same old shit every other cover band plays. Although "Paranoid" is a killer tune, every fucker does it!..i was pushing for "Never say die" which is just as much fun to play & listen to! Matty.. | |

| That is what we are trying to do. Cover songs of popular bands, but not the really big tunes. I am trying to get an 80's metal set started, with stuff like
Ratt - You think your tough Cinderella - Save Me Dokken - Breaking the Chains Scorps - Hurricane Tora Tora - Walking Shoes

| I sing for a classic rock band - just joined them a couple of months ago. They've got some originals, and we cover: Sunshine of Your Love White Room Badge Born To Be Wild We're An American Band You've Got Another Thing Coming Rainbow In The Dark The Rover Immigrant Song The Ocean Never Say Die Snowblind Burning Sky Dirty Women Too Rolling Stoned 25 or 6 to 4 That Smell It's a lot of fun - and I get to sing lead on all of the Zep | |

Matty.. My band plays Never Say Die. The guys like playing it, but the male singer in the band hates singing it cuz the vocal is so high lol We do Paranoid too, along with Dirty Women.

But there's nothing wrong with Free or All Right Now. But if I never heard another cover of All Right Now I'd be a happy guy!!!! It's one of those songs that has just been done to death.
