Thats wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now you can decide if you want to stay or go. You now have the luxury of being paid while you look for a new job and not be worried if you don't find what you want right away!!!!

So you're not being made redundant now ?? Correct. Here for life! Thing is I had planned to use some of the money to retrain and get some skills behind me. Aah well.

Aah well. Personally I'd be very happy if I was to be kept on. In the present climate a permanent job is nothing to be scoffed at. As others have said, you now have financial stability and you can move on, or not, at a time of your choosing. I'm sure if you really wanted to go they'd still let you and give you your pay off. But how long will that money last you? There is no substitue for a solid foundation.

| I am going to register for a basic plumbing course (even though Ruth says I'm not a practical person) to start with.
Might do plastering & tiling at a later date, but will definitely do a Digital Photography course in July.

And even if it doesn't lead to a job, you have skills you can use at home and save yourself a freakin £75 call out fee, and labour and...blah blah. Don't know what things are like in your area but one of best mates gave up a very well paid job to go into plastering/tiling and has found it very hard to get regular work. He recently hit lucky and got a contract with some building firm but to set up on your own is difficult as a lot of work is word of mouth. And you have to build up a reputaion before you can get such referals. Bit of a catch 22
