Saw Queen twice, as I've mentioned before 1975 and then around 30 mins of the Kind Of Magic tour at Newcastle St James when I managed to sneak in!!!!
Mr Carr tho...I'd have to think about the times I saw and met him...I'll get back to this later!!

On the same day? That I did not know.
Both truely shocking in their own way. Always remember being in bed and listening to the radio my mum had on downstairs and all they were playing were Beatles & Lennon songs. When I got up and asked why all the Lennon tunes ans she said he'd been shot I was stunned.
Will never forget that moment.

Where did the time go? Was I really 17 when this happened? It in no way seems like 30yrs...
I still recall reading about this in Kerrang (when it was still worth reading) and the shock felt by simply everyone.
Huge talent who never reached his pinnacle, but who certainly left us with one of my fav albums from Ozzy DOAM.
In all honesty, Ozzy really never found a guitarist to replace him because he simply was, and to this day is, irreplaceable.
RIP Randy.

30 years. Heh. I had been playing guitar for roughly a year (?) when Randy was killed. I had been listening to Bill Cosby and Richard Pryor records, while occasionally hearing this Eruption like a bee buzzing in my ear, and georging an obsession with Angus Young. When I heard Randy's seamlessly flowing phrases, I swear I would have to stop right where I was or I'd trip and break my bone (r) (boner). Looking back, IMHO the closest anybody came to consistently playing like Randy did would have to have been Buck Dharma, or perhaps, Dickey Betts, however, I was never entirely bozodamized with his playing . . . but, that's still kind of a stretch, because BD played stuff that nobody would go near, except by accident. Here is where we encounter, by the power of what is, the contemporary annoyance of consistent musical accidents. Rest in Peace, Randy. Forever showering your gentle memory with respect. \m/ : )~ \m/
