| What the fugg is this sh*t?? Upscope never heard of such a thing. But, apparently it's true. There are actually bands out there that restrict venues from selling beer during their sets?? That's unbelievable!! Apparently, it's in their contracts where they can refuse to play if the venue doesn't oblige.
Upscope is all for a band that is attempting to stay sober but asking him to pay in excess of $100 a ticket & then restrict his quench for thirst is simply inappropriate IUO!!
Known 'Beer Bands"
Metallica Aerosmith.......

| Well, I didnt know that bro...But that just stinks big time!!!!! Couple of beers while checking out one of your favourite bands live, whats wrong with that?? Just because some dicks get totally "fucked up" at gigs doesn't mean the rest of us should suffer.. I know, lets ban toothpicks too, you could hurt someone with one of those!...pfffffffftt, bullshit! | I don't know about Metallica, Man. I was just at a show, and there was tons of beer floating around. I also saw them back in 1996, and there was booze there as well. Aerosmith, well. . .I could see those guys doing something like that. | |

Aerosmith, well. . .I could see those guys doing something like that. Upscope has a friend that just saw Metallica last month. She's the one that brought this no beer BS to his attention. She said that all beer sales were stopped right after Lamb Of God left the stage. Her plan was to buy several beers so she had a stockpile during Metallica. Maybe others used the same plan?? You can drink the beer you already bought during the show. They just stop selling before Metallica took the stage. Supposedly it's in their contract?? NO BEER TO BE SOLD DURING THEIR SET. Apparently they are recovering alcoholics & that's the way they want it?? It has nothing to do with out of control crowds. Sounds like sh*t to Upscope. 'Scope

| Can't believe the venue goes for it. Concessions are the venues not the bands. Just like merch is the bands & not the venues. This would be equivalent to the venue saying to the band "NO selling merchandise"
WTF??

| Interesting point, I wonder if they have to pay the venue for the lose of sales. I would think that they would have to.
I don't understand how limiting access to your fans buying alcohol during your set is going to help you not drink. Lets face it, some music needs a good drink to help it go down!

| Er, whatever happened to freedom of choice? Got to say this is news to me but it SUCKS. Who are they to dictate what I can and can't do? I'm old enough to decide if I want a beer or not. I'll just drink more during the support act then as I rarely watch them anyway! - chrissy wrote:

And ain't that the truth Chrissy!!!! At the end of the day if these bands want to come over all controlling then I just won't buy their albums or tickets. I'll just get copies and bootleg DVD's!!!! Sit at home and drink to my hearts content!!! Revenge is sweet!...
