Metal icon Ronnie James Dio dead at 67

Heavy metal lost one of its icons Sunday when singer Ronnie James Dio died at 67. He was being treated in a Houston hospital for stomach cancer.
“My heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45 a.m,” said a statement by his wife, Wendy, posted Sunday on the singer’s Web site and confirmed by publicist Maureen O'Connor.
What a sad day. Good bye Ronnie you were a tremendous musician and such a gentleman...Rest in peace | |

| I know I shouldn't be surprised...stomach cancer is pretty much a killer...but I'm kinda shocked.
He had a truely great voice and was very cool when I met him the one & only time I did so.
Ronnie...thanks for some fantastic memories and some truely inspiring music.
The Rainbow has ceased to rise...

| Dio was sixty-seven when he passed. I just realized that my dad would be sixty-seven, if he were still with us. He lost his 12/13 year battle with Lymphoma when he was fifty-one. | |
