What is it?

Do you prefer the early thrashiness, the move to a more mainstream sound, the reinventing themselves or the return to form?

I've excluded Garage Inc. & S&M as they're covers/live but if that's your fave then say so!

Had to go with Black album. That's the album that made me say "Hey, I like Metallica!"

The Black album is what really got me into Metallica. Since then, I went backwards and got heavily into all their old stuff, and I was turned off by Load and Reload.

As time has gone on, I have to say that the Black album is great in so many ways, and that was a very formative part of my life. So I have to give credit where credit is due. Plus, whenever I hear "Forever I May Roam," "The Unforgiven," "Nothing Else Matters," and "Don't Tread on Me," I get taken back to that time.

I never jumped on the bandwagon saying that the album sucked or was a sellout or whatever. I still don't like Load, though there are a couple songs that I enjoy hearing now and again.

So, Black album for me!

Most Metallica fans regard "Master Of Puppets" as "the" Thrash Metal album, & I can respect that but for me it's "Kill Em All" ..I love the rawness & aggression of the album, riffs that could cut through bricks :guitar rock out:
& for 1983 the production is still loud & in your face.

Yep, "Kill Em All" gets my vote rock on

Master of Puppets-- out of respect for Cliff Burton.

There are a few songs on each album that are my favorites and some I don't like much at all.

I enjoy the heavy dark songs and don't care for the fast tempo punk influenced songs. Twisted Evil

For me it was the Ride the Lightning album, it was the one that got me really into Metallica. First time I heard Creeping Death I was hooked. I miss Cliff. Sad

I wish i could have four votes, because i'd choose the first four albums. As it is, i've picked Master of Puppets as it had everything. I think we should have a Megadeth the best ever album vote as well Smile

I'm a 'RTL' fan...took a while for me to get into Metallica but once I saw the light(ning) I came to appreciate that they are a very good band...on the whole...!

I got into them around the and justice for all time and like it and all before, the black it ok but after that I don't listen to much. I do like the new one better than the stuff inbetween the black and now.
