While there does seem to be a rescue bid on the table, I honestly see a time when HMV will go from the high street.
All this downloading and digital crap has killed the physical product. When that day comes, if it does, then I'll be gutted. While I don't have the same attachment to CD's as I did to vinyl I still love having something tangible in my grubby paws.
I like looking at the cover, reading the lyrics (if they are inc) and whatever other text is there. I really don't understand where the fun is is clicking a few buttons and downloading a tune? Some of my fondest memories are waiting for release day of the album, heading to the record store, finding that copy and lovingly looking and holding it. Taking it home, carefully opening the shrink wrap (and I've said before, if it was an import sniffing it!!! That smell was lush!) and putting it onto the turntable.
Those simple fun things are lost to todays generation.
Fools...
Or maybe I'm just too old to move with times?
